Agile Web Development book - version 4.0 released
I don''t know if I missed this on the list, but the Agile Web Development with Rails book is now at version 4.0, for those of us who bought the PDF from the Prag Prog site. Just a few typos and corrections from the looks of it, but can''t hurt to get the latest. You can reorder the book for download at: http://books.pragprog.com/titles/rails/reorder Cheers, Tom

SSL strangeness with dovecot-lda in 2.0.4
...converted my old config file settings using "dovecot -c /etc/dovecot/dovecot.orig -n > /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf" as some of the option names had changed. The computer has been rebooted since the upgrade. The odd thing is that "dovecot -n" says that ssl_key _is_ set: [gerbil at pleione dovecot]$ dovecot -n # 2.0.4: /etc/dovecot/dovecot.conf # OS: Linux 2.6.35-ARCH i686 listen = 127.0.0.1 mail_location = maildir:~/Common/Maildir passdb { driver = pam } service auth { user = root } service imap { process_limit = 5 } service pop3 { process_limit = 5...

24k, 56k, and 96k, is it possible?
OK. So I am running a 1.5 Ghz P4 with 256mb runing redhat 7.3 using Liveice, Lame and Icecast. Liveice and lame on the source box and icecast on the streamer box. 96k and 56k streams sound wonderful. But the 24k stream sounds like gerbils talking to each other. Any ideas of what would be causing this? Components going out of style?
I see in the new Agile Rails 2nd edition that components are going out of style? Is this so? has anybody abandoned the idea of components for helpers? Specifically I''m considering a menu sytem for a website that depends heavily on the users permissions to decide which menu options a user would need to see. I thought that components, since they have the logic in the controller and
