(9.2) panic under disk load (gam_server / knlist_remove_kq)
9.2 PRERELEASE (today) / amd64 Hello, I'm seeing a panic while trying to build a poudriere repository. As far I can see it always happens when gam_server is started (ie xfce is running) and under disk load (poudriere bulk build) : (That is something new, the box was pretty stable) the complete crash dump (core.0.txt) is here: http://user.lamaiziere.net/patrick/panic_gam_server.txt Fatal trap 12: page fault while in kernel mode cpuid = 1; apic id...

Newer gamin package for CentOS 4.x?
The gam_server in gamin-0.1.7-1.2.EL4 occasionally goes into an infinite loop (googling indicates there have been problems with this in gam_server for a long time, I see "another attempt to fix ..." dating from 2004). Does anyone know whether a newer version of gamin has finally fixed this and if so...

Two Issues - Postfix and Gamin
...am auto yum update, causing my server to bounce this morning until I found it, ooops my bad! The second issue is also with 4.5 but with Gamin. I have about 20 Linux CentOS workstations that have been running nicely for several months (almost years) and after the 4.5 upgrade I have noticed that the gam_server process with Gamin keeps sucking up all the CPU cycles after a short time of running. (Sometimes tied to screen saver use but not always). I haven't changed anything in my environment that I can see would cause this problem after the 4.5 upgrade. (Same file server for NFS mounts, same autofs...

zfs inotify?
OK, so this may be a little off-topic, but here goes: The reason I switched to OpenSolaris was primarily to take advantage of ZFS''s features when storing my digital imaging collection. I switched from a pretty stock Linux setup, but it left me at one disadvantage. I had been using inotify under Linux to trigger a series of Ruby scripts that would do all the basic ingestion/setup for

Minimal Install?
...cted still installs cups, portmap, and many other thing I don't want in a dom0 installation. I've already removed the packages I don't want, and replaced sendmail with postfix (I need a mailserver because of mdadm/smartd) but there're some executables I don't know what they do (gam_server for example) Two questions: 1) Is there a _real_ minimal install? 2) Is it possible, using yum, to know which packages holds what file? (like dpkg -S in Debian/Ubuntu) Many thanks in advance, Norberto

Gnome Logouts -- are very slow or they hang -- 2nd post
...seems to hang but if I wait about 4-5 minutes it will usually logout, although I have had it hang a couple of times (never logs out). When I do an ALT-TAB-F1, and log in as 'root', I can see the following processes still hanging around after Gnome finally does logout: /usr/libexec/gam_server /usr/bin/ssh_agent -s For every log in session I try, there is a copy of the 'ssh_agent' still hanging around after Gnome finally logs out. Could this be what's causing the problem? KDE logins will also cause these two programs to hang aroud, but it will usually logout in a...

Memory usage bar plot
Hi, I haven't tried the code yet. Is there a way to parse this data using R and create bar plots so that each program's 'RAM used' figures are grouped together. So 'uuidd' bars will be together. The data will have about 50 sets. So if there are 100 processes each will have about 50 bars. What is the recommended way to graph these big barplots ? I am looking

I appear to be attacking others
It looks like my CentOS 4.2 box is attacking other people with some type of ftp attack. I got an email from somebody saying they were being attacked by my IP address. Further investigation /var/log/messages shows a whole bunch of sshd attacks on me, none of which appear successful. I'm running ethereal right now and I can see that my system is doing some kind of ftp attacks on others.
