Low-memory Centos5?
...ne played with using Centos5 on systems with little memory? Ideally, I don't need too much - Firefox, Openoffice, a little Perl/Python/C here and there. I was thinking about using either XFCE or Icewm as the window manager. I'd also like it to work with the existing wireless card (Dlink DWL-G650). Any thoughts or recommendations? TIA! Jeff

WIFI
Does anyone know of an easy to install/use WIFI PCMCIA card for Linux. I am currently running Cent OS 4.0 on my laptop and I have a D-Link DWL-G650 Ver B which will run off of the madwifi Beta drivers. Now I know I can get this to work but I would feel a little better using software that is in production development. Any suggestions and input would be helpful on my new card purchase. The card should be able to run 802.11G/B and be compatible w...

WLAN support
...ufacturers doesn't really name the chipset?). I've got a list of possible WLAN NICs and am wondering if somebody has any experience using one of them with FreeBSD 4.x? Netgear WG511 (Cardbus) or WAG511 (Cardbus, 5 + 2.4 GHz) SMC 2802W (PCI) or 2835W (Cardbus) D-Link DWL G520 (PCI) or DWL G650 (Cardbus) Belkin 802.11g/+ (don't have a product name by hand, PN PCI: F5D7000, PN Cardbus: F5D7010 - not yet on market) All of these cards are 802.11g devices (54 MBit/s). What about support on FreeBSD for these devices? Any experience? I would like to setup one FreeBSD box (4.7 / 4.8 or e...

ath(4) for D-Link G520M on 5.5-R?
I just got the D-Link DWL-G520M PCI wireless card. I'm not interested in super-G or any other post-802.11b feature in particular; the reason I got it was because the marketing materials hinted that (at least some revision of it) had the Atheros chipset. It isn't recognized at all by ath(4) on 5.5. Here is the pciconf -lv section: none0@pci0:14:0: class=0x020000 card=0x3a681186
