samba and bin/text modes
Hello samba, I would like an advice on following: is there any way how to tell samba what transfer mode to use? I think I read that samba does only binary and to use text you have to use something else. We have windows machines using text files on linux samba server and i need to transfer those files in text mode. Can anyone help me please? -- Best regards, Martin

Still missing something on missing values...
Hi, I have a SPSS datafile which is used for my textbook in the statistics (and which is available on http://abacon.com/fox/s6720p2.sav, but it is originally from ICPSR). When I opened it with SPSS 10 and run Frequencies on it I have got 979 valid data a 27 missing. However, see below (unfortunately, I have used R in preparation of my homework, which caused me an error on this): >

Question/concern about bsm auditing option on solaris
Hello, I downloaded and compiled the Mar 2, 2005 snapshot and compiled it with bsm auditing for solaris turned on. I've been noticing about a dozen or so of the following messages per day now. Not sure exactly what it is, or if it is a big issue. Mar 3 13:46:10 machine_name sshd[15298]: [ID 800047 auth.crit] fatal: mm_request_send: write If it matters it is running on solaris 8

Samba swamps the server's CPU

...da feel like not being 'allowed' to do so. I'm following the mailing list for quite a while and usually use it to ask questions. I often use Discord to stay in touch with friends and for my hobby (Furries) - however, I joined exactly one programming related server about Box2D (a physics library) , again to ask questions. I found it pretty difficult to use Discord for that, because there was one channel for asking questions. So I posted my question, but the next reply was to the previous subject, b...

I have weight(wt), hind foot lenghts(pes) as continues variables and origin and gender as categorial. condition is just the residuals i took from the model. > names(dat1) [1] "wt" "pes" "origin" "gender"

How about a mascot for R?
R users, How come R doesn't have a mascot? Linux has one and so does LaTeX, so shouldn't R? I personally think that associating a "friendly face" with R would be a good thing for R (one letter names can be quite intimidating). I apologize if this is addressed in the FAQ. I searched the FAQ as well as the mailing list archives and checked ?mascot but to no avail. ;-)

RFC: Moving toward Discord and Discourse for LLVM's discussions
Hello everyone, *Short version:*I've set up an LLVM Discord server for real time chat (similar to IRC) and an LLVM Discourse server for forums (similar to email lists): https://discord.gg/xS7Z362 https://llvm.discourse.group/ Please join and use these new services. They are only partially set up and still very new, so don't hesitate to improve them and/or reach out to this thread with
