GemPlugin or Mongrel::HttpHandler subclass
Hey all
I am working with a technology standard (specific to the commercial
print industry) by which each element within the workflow has bi-
directional HTTP messaging. As each side needs a http server, I
thought I could either:
a) use a gem plugin to modify the behavior of mongrel
b) subclass Mongrel::HttpHandler
In short, its xml messaging between two points; each with a HTTP
client

Automount from Windows w/o logging in first?
I am trying to do something which should seem very straightforward,
not to mention, not unusual for load-balanced web servers, namely:
providing a faceless/login-less mounting of SMB shares from NT4 and
Win2K servers.
Yes, I accept that I will need to stash a plaintext login key in some
script or registry key. The security impacts are acceptable.
I have the latest Samba 2.2.x server, and a bunch of NT4 (soon to be

NT Domain and Samba as a PDC
Hi all,
I'm currently battling with my Corp. IS group over NT domain administration.
I admin a mostly Unix environment with a lot of WinXX clients. The
authentication server is owned by "Corporate" (you know, that nameless,
faceless entity that always makes do stupid things because
"That's the policy" :) and I have no control over it.
What I'd like to do is slowly sneak away from them by implementing a Samba
PDC and creating my own domain here. My question is, is it easier to set
up a real WinNT server to...

3D graphing Libraries
Unfortunately a number of our clients need extensive reporting
capabilities. There are a number of Java 3d graphing libraries like the
link below and PHP offerings out there.
http://big.faceless.org/products/graph/index.jsp
.Net has its new report viewer control for ASP.net 2.0 which allows you
to create 2d/3d reports containing pie charts, line graphs etc. Whats
cool about this control is the graphs have hyperlinks so the sections on
the pie chart can be clicked and drilled down on....

DO NOT REPLY [Bug 3362] New: Add option to normalize Unicode filenames
...normalize Unicode filenames
Product: rsync
Version: 2.6.7
Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P3
Component: core
AssignedTo: wayned@samba.org
ReportedBy: mike@big.faceless.org
QAContact: rsync-qa@samba.org
This is somewhere between a bug and an enhancement. When moving files with
Unicode names between different OSes, it would make life a lot easier if there
was an option to normalize filenames to a particular unicode form on the
destination.
For example,...

DO NOT REPLY [Bug 2790] Add support for converting filenames into different encodings

I've been working on a filename-conversion solution that uses the iconv()
function. After putting a bunch of thought into various designs, I think I
have a good solution that I have coded up as a patch for the latest CVS version

NWN2 Unable to Detect 3D error.
Hi. I'm running Ubuntu 8.10, My video card is Radeon x1600 with 512 of memory, and 3D graphics.
My computer is a Core 2 duo,
Wine version 1.0
This same setup ran the game before I ripped out Windows and switched to Ubuntu. I downloaded the Linux driver from the ATI/Radeon site, and installed it. But Wine doesn't seem to know about it. I tried running the windows driver in WINE but it did

trunk to trunk forwarding
Hi all,
Has anyone implemented trunk to trunk forwarding with an asterisk PBX.
For the purpose I have in mind its quite important that once the call
has been sent onwards to the new desination the lines into the PBX are
no longer held.
If anyone has UK-specific experience of getting this up and running that
would be incredibly useful!

telephony that "just works"
Hello list,
I am looking for a way to have multiple remote Windows users download a
package and get connected to *. My idea would be that they run a simple
app, it connects without any setting to an * box (maybe via IAX) and then
people press a button to talk. It would be okay if they had to enter a
username and password, but not more than that.
Looking for such software, I keep finding

PATCH : Fix missing protoypes
Hi all,
I added -Wmissing-prototypes -Wstrict-prototypes to the CFLAGS and
found that there were a number warnings generated.
The patch below fixes those warnings and adds the two -W flags to
configure.in.
Cheers,

Everyone wants a RoR framework
It seems like everyone now has a RoR type framework:
Perl:
http://dev.catalyst.perl.org/
PHP:
http://cakephp.org/
Python:
http://www.django.com
ASP.NET:
http://www.castleproject.org/index.php/Main_Page
etc., etc.
Has a revolution begun with the birth of these "Web 2.0" frameworks?
Its going to be interesting when the tech media begins its mass hype
like it did SOAP, XML, etc. a

9.2-PRE: switch off that stupid "Nakatomi Socrates"
Hello,
I'd like to switch off this silly "Nakatomi Socrates" message which
reminds me on Linux and their childish naming schemes.
It is only cosmetics, but it bothers me whenever I switch on the laptop.
I guess there is a switch already prsent to have in the bootloader
config?
Thanks,
