files-from and filter from one file?
.../etc /usr/local/bin and /usr/local/sbin. Having to use files-from and filter seperately would force me to use a temporary file instead of neatly packed into one command line with a here-document. Sounds like an easy thing to do with a + filter, but I haven't figured it out yet. Thanks Jannes Faber -------------- next part -------------- HTML attachment scrubbed and removed

What to do with ODD encoder for AudioGrabber Cd-Ripper ?
...in) told me, that the comments must be encoded using UTF-8. I wrote it to the author of AudioGrabber and he told me he will forward it to plugin author. Anyway, in the month there were no updates... I contacted Jackie again, and there below is his answer... :-((( Please, could anyone reach Albert Faber or make other version of his plugin with correct comment support. Or am i completely wrong and is it a WinAMP's plugin who's to blame? One more question is if there is some program, that could easily convert those plain text comments into UTF-8 ones? ======================================...

Understanding lustre setup ..
Hello, I have been reading http://wiki.lustre.org/images/1/1b/Hadoop_wp_v0.4.2.pdf for setting up Hadoop over lustre. Generally in hadoop setup, we have 1 Namenode and various number of datanodes. If I want to setup the same keeping Lustre as backend, in the document it is mentioned that: ".............Our experiments run on cluster with 8 nodes in total, one is mds/namenode, the rest are

logging messages
..., you'll be seeing another message from me shortly. :-) Googling for "syslog site:www.R-project.org" however doesn't give me much hope. From what I gather, you guys just pipe everything to STDOUT. Is there a syslog module, er, extension for R? If so, how do I find it? TIA -- Faber http://www.linuxnj.com

moving functions between namespaces
Hi all, I'm a newbie wrt R but that's okay, since I don't do any programming in R. What I do need to do is to administrate the activites of an R programmer, so my questions will be related to adminning R as opposed to statistcal programming. I hope that's okay with y'all. :-) I've been through most of the docs that I could find (the PDFs, StatsRUs, etc.) and I've

OOB packets and port forwarding
I have an application that uses a 1-byte OOB packet for a heartbeat signal. It appears that openssh blocks these packets when I use it to forward to a remote port. The application works fine when connected to the server using the port forward, but all heartbeat packets are stripped out from the socket data. Is this intentional? Is it a bug? I've tried several versions of openssh without
