having should_receive expectation for things that happen in setup
Hi! The following example doesn''t work for me: http://pastie.caboo.se/41732 However, if the call to msg() happens in the specify block after the expecation and not in the setup, it will pass. Why is this? I thought the setup method was there to actually ''construct'' the context and the specifications are some kind of "postconditions" that only need to be validated after that - am I thinking wrong here? Greetings,...

Opus for ASR - update and questions
...be testing. But in order to apply an apples-apples comparison we need to model both data rates and latency in real world scenarios. For UDP, I'm assuming that the redundancy feature adds no additional latency. Correct? On the data rate question, I see that the Opusenc tool provides an "expec-loss" parameter with the value expressed as a percentage. Could someone please describe how this is implemented? Are you simply removing some percentage of packets from the result, or is there a more complex model underpinning the exercise? Modeling TCP data rates and latency in similarly l...

Patch idea for rspec_on_rails
I recently wrote a matcher for testing AR associations which allows you to specify things like: Foo.should have_many(:bars).through(:bazes) I''m pretty darned proud of it and a couple of people have suggested that I should submit it to the rspec_on_rails project. Before I go to the trouble of writing out rdoc and fully spec''ing it, I just wanted to make sure this was

Market is driven by low budget (ignorant - not to offend, but to just qualify in insight into hardware) consumer. Which indeed leads to "fake raid" chips (aka "software" raid), and...

...xample? Corsair LE 480 GB (100$) vs Samsung SSD Serie 850 Pro 512GB (260$). 850 Pro is better, but more expensive, and Corsair LE has 3 year of warrenty. Maybe an user can spend his money for a vga or a better cpu. These bad companies permit some users to get hw for less money without a great expecation for cheapest use case and their ability to pay. Than if these cheap companies must not exist, the user must not use a new technology (at lower cost)? The IT gap. Sorry, my (m.)2 cents.

VIRT SIG Meeting Minutes [11/04]
...==== LK noticed that there are some issues with list moderation : aka posts seem to go missing on centos-virt KB stated that "if you are not subscribed : posts to the list are autodiscarded". This is due to the volume of spam to the centos lists. LK, is OK with this, but we need to set expecations. As this may be difficult for new people engaging with the SIG * ACTION : LK state this policy on the wiki page and make a post to the list and seeing whether we want to change it. The volume of spam is likely smaller on the virt list than the centos-devel list ==== Bug tracking ==== B...

Make sign test show test statistics
When I perform a two-tailed sign test with the following simple syntax, binom.test(59,100) R returns a P-value (0.088) but nothing else. As I want the result for a one-tailed test I take P/2 = 0.044). However, the journal to which I've submitted my results requests the test statistics, not just the P-values. How can I make R return the test statistics? Best regards, Johan Stenberg, Umea

x86: How to Force 2-byte `jmp` instruction in lowering
I have a bit of a riddle: In http://reviews.llvm.org/D19904 I'm trying to spell the following assembly: .palign 2, 0x90 jmp +0x9 nopw 512(%rax,%rax,1) // rest of the code I try the following snippet to accomplish this: OutStreamer->EmitLabel(CurSled); OutStreamer->EmitCodeAlignment(4); auto Target = OutContext.createLinkerPrivateTempSymbol(); // Use a two-byte `jmp`.

Stopping example execution?
Hello, I''m wondering If I am missing something here when creating an example that sets an expecation at the top or beginning of an action but requires you to stub / mock everything that follows. Example: I want to test that a certain controller is running a before_filter...thats easy: - controller.should_receive(:require_user) - do_get But now i''ve got to mock / stub everything el...

Mocking the rendering of a Rails template
...ActionView::Base until after the controller processing is called. I have no idea what is going on with the second attempt. It''s hitting a mock, but I have no idea where that mock is coming from. Logically, it probably is coming from the any_instance magic, but in that case it should be expecting the render_file call. Thoughts? What am I doing wrong in the second case? Is there another way I could mock this? Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Bryan -- http://www.MyCongress.org/ -- coming soon

Spec for validation plugin
Hi, I''m writing a specification for a model called Location which has a post_code attribute which should be a valid UK postcode. I''m using the http://svn.designbyfront.com/rails/plugins/validates_as_uk_postcode/ validates_as_uk_postcode plugin to handle the validation but I''m not sure how I should properly specify my model. Heres the model code: class Location <
