Half-Life and wine
When I run HL with wine I get a OpenGL Mode is not Supported. I tried ./configure --enable-opengl but it still does it. I read through all the How-to's and everything seems to be in order. I've got a GeForce256 with DDR a PII RedHat 7.0 and X-Free 4.0.1. I am able to run Soldier of Fortune for linux with OpenGL without any problems, but this doesn't use Wine. I have all of the

Remote win98 refusing to connect to samba server
The problem: attempting to connect to a samba network drive from a Windows 98 machine gives me the error message: "Not logged on". Background: We have been running samba to serve a number of w95 clients for a couple of years. Some of the clients are remote and we don't bother with running nmbd(8), so all clients have LMHOSTS files. The problem is related to a new W98 machine

...rnative options. I''ll cover these in that order. The consensus seems to be that a PPro, P2, alpha, or newer sparc could do the job. The main concern seems to be in getting the fastest bus possible. However, Bryan Davis seems to be having great luck using a P133. Project "Muncher" the next step in wine
Ok, It's a lame name but it was the best I could come up with after spinning around in a desk chair for a few minutes. Here is the general idea behind it. Once, in an interview, Steve Balmber, the CEO of Microsoft threw some standard MS FUD out about Linux being a poor choice becaue each distro tends to "mutate" linux and has no solid direction I thought "Wouldn't

Help with windwos 2000 and Samba 2.0.3 / can't see shares
I reported this (or tried, I emailed the bug list with the results with debug set high). Both 2.0.7 pre1 and the CVS today won't show shares. I note that tcpdump apparently shows that it is trying to negotiate an old protocol - I can see the decode of the Win98 traffic, but not W2K. It fails on the routine that does the get next share name. Basically with W2K, smbclient -L won't show
