Application 1 is an auditing application called AuditSystem. Application 2 is a quality control appllication called QC. App1 has a couple of classes, including models, that i would like to use with App2. I would like a change in a class to be felt in both applications. One of my actions runs for more than 2 minutes. In development mode it runs and completes successfully, but in production mode it quits out with a timeout error: "Timeout::Error (execution expired):" Any ideas how i can stop this? I want to tail my development.log file, but i only want to show the lines that have the word "ERROR" in. How can i do this?? Doing this : tail -f development.log | grep "ERROR" will filter the log file, but it will not constantly update itself. i.e. newly added lines to the log file that contain "ERROR" are not displayed. In my database the id for a field is 810. RoR thinks that it is 809. My log file (below) shows that just before the insert it grabs the next sequence value. I dont think it should do that. I never want to alter a model(row). When a model has been changed i want a new copy to be created. What is the best way to implement this? I think using callbacks might be the answer. So model.save will create a new row, and leave the old one unchanged. Any ideas? I can easily implement this in the controller but i''d rather it be done transparently. I cant figure out how to do global regular expressions in ruby. Im not even sure if its possible. In the "Programming Ruby" book there is no mention of it.
