%U/%u expansions in Mixed Active Directory (2000/XP/2003 Server) and NT4 environment with samba 3.0.0 and winbind
...ame. While my NT4 boxes are showing up a simply username. I have temporarily worked around this by creating a silly number of soft links but would prefer a cleaner solution. Was this fixed in 3.0.1? I know some stuff was mentioned about the "winbind use default domain = yes". Thanks, Ehren Wilson Network Administrator Equinox Engineering Ltd.

Opus now supported at Magnatune
This seemed to be the best place to let you guys know.... Magnatune.com's entire catalog is now downloadable in Opus format, with full metadata (small and large cover art) at 128k stereo. A few comments: 1) I'm really impressed by your metadata implementation. It's very cleanly done, and the multiple artwork idea is fantastic. One suggestion: I couldn't find an example in the

Additional ogg audio fomats (speex, flac, PCM)
Hi After much googling, am struggling to find either: a) a command-line utility that allows me to encode to non-vorbis ogg audio (*nix) b) example files of the above Am building a program part of which reads stream meta from uploaded audio files, and so have written a lightweight getid3-like set of classes that do this. Am handling ogg vorbis perfectly well already and would like to test it

Multiple Firewalls with ipfilter?
We're supposed to provide redundant firewall service. I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried to do this and if it's realistic. Basically 2 firewall machines hooked up so if one fails the other will transparently step in. I've googled it to death without much luck. The security issue here lies in that the 2 firewalls can't talk to each other. So if I'm keeping state on

Poor network performance on Dom0 [2.6.18-6-xen-amd64]
I am experiencing poor network performance on Dom0. When i ping other hosts on the same LAN, packets are out of order, and they show response times ranging from < 1 ms to several seconds, and some packets get lost. For example, a typical ping result looks like this: 87 packets transmitted, 80 received, +3 errors, 8% packet loss, time 86038ms rtt min/avg/max/mdev =

Ogg Format
Hello Tim I am referring to the following file https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Sample_of_%22Another_Day_in_Paradise%22.ogg I opened the file in a HEX editor. I do not see the string OpusHead in the packet. It starts with Oggs. Also checking the occurrence of Oggs, I see that the first packet has BOS, the next all (except last) have 00 (which is not defined in the RFC as continuation) and

way to duplicate logs?
Hello- I am bit confused here. I have just had some issues with my box and I am looking for some opinions. I just had been denied access to my box...supposedly from a memory shortage in reference to my NIC....more specifically, mbuf clusters exhausted. Now I am looking in my /var/log/messages for when this started and I notice a discrepancy in my logs. Now from where I am looking, I see

Mounting filesystems with "noexec"
Hello, I've been playing a bit with the "noexec" flag for filesystems. It can represent a substantial obstacle against the exploitation of security holes. However, I think it's not perfect yet. First thing, an attempt to execute a program from a noexec-mounted filesystem should be logged. It is either a very significant security event, or it can drive nuts an
