Samba and Active Directory Permissions
All,
I am currently running Samba 3.0.2a on a RHEL3 server. I would like
to use the extended file systems permissions through windows, but I
haven't had much luck. Here is how I am set up....
My linux box is joined to my AD domain and appears to be functioning
correctly. I also have winbind set up, and functioning, although I
still have some tweaking to do, it is assigning user and

SSL delegation difficulties
hey all, trying to get SSL cert deligation working based on
http://reductivelabs.com/trac/puppet/wiki/PuppetScalability. All of
the commands run without any problems, however I''m still not getting
it to work. One perplexing thing is openssl reports the cert is okay.
# openssl verify -CAfile /var/lib/puppet/ssl/certs/ca.pem
/var/lib/puppet/ssl/certs/test1.localdomain.pem

SOLVED: Re: SSL delegation difficulties
The problem was solved when we moved to an Apache+mongrel setup from
the initial webrick setup. Seems that webrick doens''t handle the SSL
certs correctly enough to get this type of setup working.

external USB HDD exclusive for HVM domU?
Hi there,
just a short question:
Does someone know if it''s possible to use an USB HDD in one HVM domU?
It doesn''t need to be the particular USB device, deligating the whole
USB controller to this single domU wouldn''t hurt either.
Also reconfiguration isn''t an issue, as - if it''s possible - USB devices
would only be used by one domU.
Thanks in

Samba and Active Directory Permissions RESOLUTION
All,
Thanks for the responses. There were two things I had to do to get
this to work. The first thing was I had to change the readonly
attribute in the smb.conf to NO. I also noticed that there was an error
in my /etc/fstab so that the options were not read in for some reason.
Once I fixed this and re-mounted the filesystem with the ACL option, I
was able to do what I needed to do. Thanks

Samba 3.0, Windows 2k/XP and usrmgr.exe
Hi there
I've just finished setting my first Samba PDC for 120ish users and so far so
good, although its only been live for 2 days!!
One problem I've come across (actually I had loads but the HOW-TO, Samba
archive and google solved most of them) is with usrmgr. There is one XP
client that I have installed the NT 4 Server Tools software on for the
school IT coordinator (note the phrase
