How To change server recovery timeout
Hi, Our lustre environment is: 2.6.9-55.0.9.EL_lustre.1.6.3smp I would like to change recovery timeout from default value 250s to something longer I tried example from manual: set_timeout <secs> Sets the timeout (obd_timeout) for a server to wait before failing recovery. We performed that experiment on our test lustre installation with one OST. storage02 is our OSS [root at

Bell Canada Caller-ID
...nada uses Bellcore, just like the USA. It does - almost. For some reason, the former Stentor member companies use a non-standard implementation of MDMF. Bellcore uses DN (Directory Number), usually the 10 digit number that includes the area code found in the phone book. Stentor uses DDN (Dialable Directory Number), a variable length number that is the number that must be dialed to call the other person back (ie local calls don't include area code, long distance includes the preceding "1"). Normal Bellcore MDMF identifies each part of a message wit...

Large directory performance
...5,000 files/sec. That leaves me wondering 2 things. How can we get 5,000 files/sec for anything and why is our performance dropping off so suddenly at after 20k files? Here is our setup: All IO servers are Dell PowerEdge 2950s. 2 8-core sockets with X5355 @ 2.66GHz and 16Gb of RAM. The data is on DDN S2A 9550s with 8+2 RAID configuration connected directly with 4Gb Fibre channel. They are running RHEL 4.5, Lustre 6.7.2-ddn3, kernel 2.6.18-128.7.1.el5.ddn1.l1.6.7.2.ddn3smp As a side note the users code is Parflow, developed at LLNL. The files are SILO files. We have as many as 1.4 million files...

...) << 9) { printk(KERN_ERR "%s: over max size limit.\n", __func__); return -EIO; } I haven''t seen that before, but if I should guess, I would guess that dm-* has a larger queue than your underlying block device. If that is with your DDN storage, can you verify if all those devices are have max_sec_kb tuned to maximum? Also, does that come up with 1.8.4 only? (I have SG_ALL in my mind which was increased from 255 to 256, which might not be supported by all scsi host adapters). Cheers, Bernd

...for your answer, Charles. This confirms what I thought : no other way than turning off and on the UPSes to change date and hour of self tests. So, effectively, the best way to have full control is to schedule tests via scripts. Regards -- Frantz de Germain D?partement Informatique UFR Sciences / DDN Universit? d'Angers

2.6.0 bcmxcp_usb recovery question
Greetings, The way that bcmxcp_usb reacts to and recovers from a USB cable unplug-plug appears to have changed significantly between 2.4.1 and 2.6.0. While I can see some improvements, bcmxcp_usb 2.6.0 does not appear to handle a USB cable unplug-plug correctly. Does anyone know if this has been fixed in subsequent releases? Here are the details. When the USB cable between my server and my
