Make nmbd bind to interfaces only
Hi,
I would like to have nmbd only bind to the interfaces specified in the
interfaces line of smb.conf, in the same way that smbd does. When
researching this I did come across a mailing list thread saying there
was no use case, but I think I have one.
For many years ClearOS has been providing NT4 style domains and
unix-style shares. M$ upset the applecart last year with their 1803
update when joining NT4 domains got broken (it has since been fixed
since September '18, but I would assume the writing is on the wall for
NT4 domains).
To get round the issue I loa...

...to me, points
to a Windows problem.
I have said it before and I will probably have to say it again, if
you run an NT4-style domain, upgrade to an AD domain as soon as
possible.
The problem for the OP is (if I am correct), he will have to change his
OS as well ('CLEARSYSTEM' possibly means CLEAROS).

ClearOS rebuild
This week's FLOSS Weekly interview is about ClearOS (audio/video at
http://twit.tv/floss168). Apparently they have taken the CentOS
developer's frequently given advice to go away and do it yourself and
will have a 'ClearOS core' release that is their own rebuild from Red
Hat sources that will be the base for the ClearOS enterprise...

What is in a yum group
I want to install Xfce on a ClearOS server. They have not defined any
desktop groups (actually no groups other than minimal). But lots of
Xfce rpms are in their repos.
How can I see what rpms Centos would install with a 'yum group install'?
Then I get to install vnc server and set up the client right...

Problem with Remote Announce
Hi,
I've been running Samba 3.5.18 on ClearOS 5.2 for a while now. I have a
server on its own LAN's (192.168.2.0/24 and 192.168.3.0/24) and an IPSec
VPN through to 192.168.10.0/24. The remote LAN is just one machine on
the other side of a router. I've been successfully seeing its netbios
name and I've been able to ping the remo...

Looking for a RAID1 box
...z and 8GB Installed.
It has 4 3.5" bays. and 1? "Media" bay?
https://www.servertechsupply.com/873830-s01/
this could well be acceptable.? Got to find out power draw.? Looks like
~40W.
Any input on issues of OS install?? Do I go with separate OS and data
RAID1 sets?
Also HPE is ClearOS.? I ran ClearOS6 for years before going with QNAP
turnkey.? Perhaps current ClearOS is better, but it does not handle
multi-domain email as I need.? Or it did not.? So I am going to install
my own CentOS variant and iRedMail...

Some questions
...ew questions.
All of my servers will be ARM. The main hardware will be Cubieboards (2
and truck). They will be running Centos-7 once the development is
finished. For now I am using Fedora 22 arm. My backup file server will
be a pogoplug (armv5) with Redsleeve 7.1.
My current environment is ClearOS with a handful of XP systems with
roaming profiles. Of course this is an Intel server.
So on to some questions...
I am reading an old how to I pulled a year? ago:
WIP_Beginner HowTo - SOHO business server - SambaWiki.html
And it says IPv6 not supported. Well time has flown, and I really wan...

Shares stopped working for groups
Hi,
I have a ClearOS 7.8 system which is running
samba-4.10.4-11.el7_8.x86_64, and it upgraded to this just over a week
ago (probably not relevant). A couple of days ago all the group shares
failed. I discovered that if I switched them to the built-in group
"allusers" the share worked fine. It fails for a...
