clipping off words inside a vector of strings
Hi,
I have a vector of strings (class character) with 6 elements (length
6). I call it 'names'.
"Graham Chapman"
"John Cleese"
"Terry Gilliam"
"Eric Idle"
"Terry Jones"
"Michael Palin"
And I want to turn it into another vector of strings called
'shortnames' with the same length.
The new vector should look like:
"Gra Cha"
"Joh Cle"
"Ter Gi...

protocol emulation. Also another difficulty is that it depends on the
NetBSD kernel to work, but, anyway, it's a start, and it could
probably be done from it.

"CLE Loads Everything", and that is capable of loading not only ELF,
but also PE, and some subset of Mach-o). However, I only gave a quick
glimpse at it, and I'm not really sure that CLE is capable of putting
the executable in memory so that it's "re...

Getting the right tool for the job (whether downloading for free or
buying something) is a much better way to attack the problem.

habtm vs. has_many/belongs_to
...ften seem like the
obvious choice, it?s often a mirage for a missing domain model. When
it is, it can be advantageous to convert this relationship into a
real model
and decorate it with a richer set of behavior. This lets you
accompany the
data with methods.
As an example, we could turn the articles_users relationship into a new
model called Reading. This Reading model will belong_to both an article
and a user. And it?s now the obvious spot to place methods such as
find_popular_articles( ), which can perform a group by quer y and
return the
articles that have been read the most. This lighte...

HP Deskjet 1000c
Howdy all -
I have Samba 2.0.3 running like a champ on a dual PPro 200, 128 MB RAM,
running Slackware 3.6, kernel 2.2.5. Running like a champ as far as file
sharing is concerned, that is.
I have an HP Deskjet 1000c hanging off the parallel port. I set up a raw
printer in /etc/printcap, the line looks like this:
dj1000|DeskJet 1000c:sh:lp=/dev/lp0:sd=/var/spool/lpd/dj1000

Error Messages on Terminal
...n't show in KDE) I get various nmbd messages scrolling
across my screen, messages that look like nmbd doing its thing. I would
think that these should be going to a log file instead of on to the
screen. where they display right over top of midnight commmander. They
disappear when I type "clear".
My hunch is that there is a debug level turned on relating to nmbd that
produces these messages and then some other setting that makes them come
up on the screen rather than in a log file. But then again, I don't
really know.
Any ideas?

server not visible anymore
Hello everyone,
I used samba 1.9.x before and everything was fine. The samba
server lived in some local network and I could see it from my NTbox
as well as from Win95/98 clients.
I upgraded to version 2.0.3 and now my server is gone though I use
the same smb.conf file which is pretty basic. I can connect to it
using the "\\server\share" convention and can also see it when I do
