circular table refs in activerecord
...OM users WHERE (users.default_proc_id = 2) LIMIT 1
In this case, it should be:
SELECT * FROM users WHERE (users.id = 4) LIMIT 1
The "2" is the "id" from default_procs. What incantations do I need to
pull this off?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Writing to a Win98 share?
...s -o guest,rw,fmask=0777 //mav/mav_z /mnt/mav_z"
which also works. Same result though, can't write to the share!
Someone on IRC suggested I add "umask=000", but all that gives me is the
"Usage instructions" for mount.
Please help, I'm getting desperate here!

virt-install HVM with url and kickstart?
I have a kickstart file created that works great for installing CentOS on
PVM''s and now I want to use it for HVM''s as well. The problem is that when I
attempt to run the install, it seems to ignore the kickstart and starts
prompting me for all the things I already have specified in the kickstart.
Any idea what I could be doing wrong? Here is the command im using to get

How to beat Google aka Xapian & Natural Language Processing.
Xapians!
If tomorrow Xapian search engine would achieved the same performance
and result in searches as Google we would not be able to beat Google,
because we would create only a copy of the searches that already
exists from Google search engine. However there is a way to beat
anyone, and there is a way to beat Google successfully as well just do
not give up. Some see it as implementing Ajax, or

Anybody seen this and have a potential workaround? Besides Mozilla?
I''ll post code if anyone thinks it''ll help. There''s very little

Validating the presence of two associated objects from both models
I have a model “Conversation” and a model “Leader”. A Conversation is always led by exactly 1 Leader.
I’ve overridden Conversation’s “validate” method to validate the presence of an associated Leader model.
If I add a similar validation to the Leader model, however, Conversations can no longer be saved on creation because the Leader model is invalid.
On creation of both a new Conversation and

adding layouts within layouts
Hi,
I want to be able to have several layouts within each other so that I don''t
have to keep repeating the layout code for one, in another. An example
would be having a layout for the title of your web page and then having an
embedded layout for the body portion in which the HTML for whatever view
gets displayed. Is this possible?
Thanks.

dom0 iptables
Ok, I am setting up a new dom0 at a colo provider and usually the colo
facility acts as my gateway, but at this new one, the provider is
recommending that I use the server as its own gateway. That unfortunately
doesnt work to well when it comes to iptables and my domU''s. IPtables do not
support virtual interfaces, so I can''t just white list them unfortunately. I

TellMe Voice Recognition in Asterisk working..
A couple of weekends ago I decided to see if I could get Asterisk to
play nice with TellMe's VoiceXML studio. They provide the VoiceXML
studio for free, and you can access it through SIP, so I thought this
would be a fun and cheap way to integrate voice recognition into my
IVR. I have posted a brief tutorial with code and examples on the
voip-info.org wiki (

Understanding “create_association” and invalid objects
The documentation on the “create_association” method of the “belongs_to” association reads:
> create_association(attributes = {})
> Returns a new object of the associated type that has been instantiated with attributes, linked to this object through a foreign key, and that has already been saved (if it passed the validation).*
My expectation from this documentation is that calling
