does function predplot still exist?
Venables and Ripley's MASS 3ed mentions a function predplot, used for plotting results of lda and qda. But even with the library MASS loaded, R (1.4.1) tells me predplot doesn't exist, and when I search the 1.4.1 documentation for predplot, it finds nothing. Does predplot still exist somewhere, or has it been replaced by a new and improved version with a different name? Thanks.

[exim] Exim + Dovecot deliver overquota problems
...my case is that I am using some hashing to > distribute the users' mailboxes, dovecot can handle this easily > because it supports some interesting stuff > (http://wiki.dovecot.org/Variables) Exim have much more variables and functions http://exim.org/exim-html-4.69/doc/html/spec_html/ch11.html#SECTexpvar, so if you don't use any special dovecot variable data, than it shouldn't be a problem. > With a perl script I could also do that, I would like only if it's the > last resort (too much overhead I would think) > > Parsing file and counting quota value - is tr...

Plotting Discriminants from qda
Dear R Help Members, I am aware how to plot the LD1 vs LD2 from a lda in R, using the code: plot(baseline.systat.hat$x, col=baseline.systat.hat$class,pch=as.numeric(baseline.systat.hat$class)) However, I need to use the quadratic discriminant function, qda due to data properties. Is there a way to obtain the same sort of plot for from a qda object (and the output of predict qda). I have not

Samba limitation to concurrent open files
Can Samba handle in the range of 1million to 3 millions concurrently open files? If so, then from which Samba version onwards? Does it have any benchmarking results on maximum number of open files that Samba can have concurrently? Any reply to this question is highly appreciated. Thanks in Advance Santosh

Increasing max stat cache
Hi ..., We have a Lustre Storage with large directories. Many of these directories contain thousands of files and we have hundreds of such directories. Directory Listing on Lustre is very slow, due to the nature of most Parallel File Systems design. It takes around 4 Secs (during non-peak hours) to list a 2000 file directory. And during heavy load times, this goes upto 10-11 Secs. Since all the

Putting demo shell scripts, text files, and RScript files with a package?
I've written a package to assist with using R in Hadoop Streaming. The main point of the package is to help make command-line runnable RScript files. I'd like to provide a demo RScript file, a demo data file (e.g. a plaintext file, not something already processed by R) , as well as demo bash shell scripts that demonstrate how to run the job from the command line and in a Hadoop

where is "average shifted histogram"?
Hello! In the book Modern Applied Statistics with S (4th ed), section 5.6 the concept of the "average shifted histogram" or ASH is mentionend. Also it is mentioned in the same section "The code used is in the scripts for this chapter" (from figure caption 5.8, analysis of the geyser duration data). *However*, I have trouble finding the code for that function! Admittedly, I am a

cannot load rJava in R
Hi all! I recently tried to install the rJava package on my notebook (Debian Etch / Kernel 2.6.15 / jdk 1.5.0-5 / R 2.2.1 / rJava ?? the repo one, have a look below). I compiled R myself with "--with-readline=no" and "--enable-R-shlib flags". Now, each time loading the library rJava I encouter the same error. I reinstalled several times (as root), always the same problem:

SeBackupPrivilege
We're using Samba 3.0.21a-1 on a CentOS 4.2 server (kernel 2.6.9-22.0.2.ELsmp); everything works more or less fine, it's functioning as the PDC with an OpenLDAP back end (setup essentially straight from the Idealx.org playbook), etc. We're trying to mount Windows shares to back them up, and getting "permission denied" errors when trying to read certain files from those
