Cessation of BBC Ogg streams
Permission to stream BBC Radio 1 & 4 24x7 ran out today. Radio 4 have said we can go for another week (so that's fine for the first LotR episode), but after that it will cease too. If you enjoyed them, and want to see them return, then all feedback is appreciated - send to webweaver@bbc.co.uk. Some on-demand stuff is still available, and still linked from http://support.bbc.co.uk/ogg/

...rounds = outlook-no-nuls oe-ns-eoh } *deleting the user's homedir mail directory (including all dovecot index files) *restarting dovecot *changing mail clients: tried outlook express, netscape 4.8, thunderbird on user's PC *restarting the server All changes resulted in only a brief (1-2hr) cessation of the problem. I've subscribed for a month or so now and searched the archives, but if I missed a solution to this in there, I apologize. Thanks, Ben Julian

decoding with -F
...it is possible that reading a bad "sample" would result in 0 difference from the decoder - i.e. you'd get the same sample twice in a row. Repeating the same sample when one is lost would be closer to "silence" than just blindly inserting a 0, because it represents a cessation of movement of air (or your eardrum). However, any bad sample causes distortion of some kind, whether it is loud or quiet depends upon many factors of human perception. But I don't know which result FLAC gives when errors are found and -F is requested. Brian W. On Oct 24, 2007,...

More on"Callprogress"
...SIP phone, indicating that * had not acknowleged the remote phone having been picked up, even though it apparently knows - it has after all stopped repeatedly displaying the "ringing" notification. The questions are these: 1) If callprogress is in fact detecting ringing, and then the cessation of ringing through the ADTRAN, then why doesn't it bridge the call when the ringing stops? 2) Why bother at all with callprogress. If bridging an analog call when it's dialed (i.e., callprogress=no) always succeeds, then why wait? The only advantage I can see is that it may save s...

keyboard control of ogg123
...tely 2. determine how many seconds of data remain unplayed in the buffer 3. drop the buffer contents into the bit bucket Why you might ask? Well, if the audio file being played is a 22050 mono format, and you press control-c or control-z you will notice that the time between the key-press and the cessation of sound is from 3 to 5 seconds. Admittedly, this might be the worst case and with audio formats using a higher sample rate the delay is lessened, but the delay is still noticeable. So, can you help me with the missing pieces? I have read the code and tried a few things, but nothing worked like...

decoding with -F
hi thx, exactly the explanation i wanted to hear! i want to try to damage some flac files to hear the effects on the audio, but does anybody knows if there is a program (like hex editor, ...) that could be used to visually 'search' the different blocks in the file, assuming this is even possible. if it's not, what would be a good way to damage the file in some places to be able to

R runs in a usual way, but simulations are not performed
...Simulations are performed by repeat command and, after every simulation step, the result is exported to an external csv file. Since sometimes an error was encountered during the simulation and the entire program broke down, I made use of the function TRY at critical evaluation steps to prevent the cessation of the program evaluation: R evaluates the result and if there should be a problem, it moves onto another step. Therefore, I distinguish between bad simulations and good simulations (and have two csv files for the results). There, however, another problem arises: R seems to be working (computing...
