Hi all, Samba has been running as PDC for some months in a row w/o no issues so far. Users and machines were created and added to the domain correctly... Now I'm facing the following problem... I hope it's easy to solve... Although machines have been added to the domain using the root user, and it's mapped to Administrator in /etc/samba/smbusers, when a situation like connecting

NT profiles on samba server
Hi, there, I put roaming profiles for NT4 users on samba server. In "Domain User Manager", I set "User profile Path" \\abel\profile\%U.pds, here abel is samba server. It works well, but everyday several users complain. Sometime, they cannot login because of roaming profiles. Sometimes, some users cannot run VC or VB. Sometime, I only need to remove ntuser.dat on samba

URGENT winbind - New DOMAIN but old DOMAIN not CHANGING - Resent
Hi, We just imported (moved) all our staff from the old w2k domain to the new w2k3 domain. Say their accounts and passwords From STAFF domain to say NEW. Seems winbind is keeping the old domain users. This server was serving the STAFF domain w/o problems before users were migrated. Domain is in 2000 native mode. I'm using winbind for squid auth on Mandrake linux 10.0

samba and NT network
Hi Samba Team I have a urgent problem. I have a Unix box that's running Samba Server, I can see the Server on the NT network but when I try to access the share I get the message: "\\Samba is not accessible". The network path was not found. On the WINS Server I have a static mapping to the IP and I'm able to do a ping from the Unix and to The NT network and from the NT box

samba 4 migration (doamin admins & domain users renamed)
Hi, I have checked sambaSID (from samba-ldap 3) and compared with ObjectSID in samba 4 (after migration) and this value is the same, without any difference. For me it is not a problem, but if in the futur I'will keep old name, I can rename this group after the migration is make...? samba & unix group permissions problems
Hi, I'm having permissions problems connecting to a share when the gid of the directory shared is not the primary group of the user connecting to it. Maybe I faced it the wrong way, but I did read (and at least thought I understood) the 'File, directory and share access controls' section of the howto [0]. My users have either one or another 'primary group' (the one set in

Debian Jessie joining AD as member fails with "The object name is not found."
Hi all! To clarify, it must have been removed from the copy-pasta, but “net ads join -U” did produce a password prompt as expected. The dig command produced the following: root at host:~$ dig -t SRV _ldap._tcp.domain.local ; <<>> DiG 9.9.5-9+deb8u6-Debian <<>> -t SRV _ldap._tcp.domain.local ;; global options: +cmd ;; Got answer: ;; ->>HEADER<<- opcode:

Debian Jessie joining AD as member fails with "The object name is not found."
I'll bet static ip, with correct resolv.conf hosts and nsswitch.conf and krb5.conf. This must be the clue... > Creation of workstation account failed: NT_STATUS_OBJECT_NAME_NOT_FOUND So the join reaches the AD but here something happens. Russelt, can you try again with debug 10 and post both logs. net ads join -UAdministrator and net ads join -UAdministratos -S YOUR_ADDC.domain.tld.

Debian Jessie joining AD as member fails with "The object name is not found."
Hi all! I had originally been using a DHCP-assigned address. I have now switched to a static IP, but that didn't solve the problem (same error message). I'm attaching my resolv.conf, nsswitch.conf and krb5.conf files. I have not manually altered either of them, although krb5.conf appears to have been updated by some tool somewhere along the way because my domain is listed as the

My story installing Samba-LDAP PDC (it has a happy ending)
OK. I am starting to believe that Samba 3.0.x is not stable. At least, the documentation for Samba as PDC with OpenLDAP backend (which is what I have been trying to do for four days) is crap. All the documentation for 3.0.x is mixed with 2.2.x. Most documents start as instructions for 3.0.x but put a lot of information that doesn't apply to 3.0.x, but 2.2.x. People in the mailing list
