...o your help crucial for me to learn R.
I have already got positive expression.
I was trying to fit a mixed model in animal experiment but stuck at simple

Bug in lmer?
...am running R 2.1.1 on a Windows XP
machine and the lme4 package version 0.98-1. The following code fits the
model I want using the nlme package version 3.1-60.
mltloc$loc <- factor(mltloc$loc)
mltloc$block <- factor(mltloc$block)
mltloc$trt <- factor(mltloc$trt)
Mltloc <- groupedData(adg~trt|loc,mltloc)
plot(Mltloc)
plot(Mltloc,outer=~trt)
lme(adg~trt,
random=pdBlocked(list(pdIdent(~1),pdIdent(~block-1),pdIdent(~trt-1))),Mltloc)
The problem is that when I try fitting the model using the lmer function
with the following code:
lmer(adg~trt+(1|loc)+(1|block:loc)+(1|loc:trt),mltloc...

Bcalc.exe
Wine has been working fine for me on most things but when I place Bcalc.exe (a calculator) in my Common Files and click on it... it shows a large box "C:\windows\system32\winevdm.exe" and a small box "Error X need 80x87 OK" bottom right of the large box.
I thought Wine used the 80x87 math coprocessor? But if not am I out of luck?

PAM_USER falsely assumed immutable
..."username changed %s -> %s",
1025 request->user, value);
that it hasn't changed.
You're not allowed to assume that PAM_USER doesn't change. See, for
example, http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/libs/pam/Linux-PAM-html/adg-security-user-identity.html
to say nothing of the fact that Rutgers has PAM modules that do exactly
that (change PAM_USER). This check needs to be relaxed (or, perhaps if you
want a config directive for DontComplyWithThePAMSpec = true, you can have
a tunable). Can this be as simple as ditching...

Hung XFS filesystems on Samba server
...e for all parts including disks has been
flashed repeatedly over the last two years to current levels. Firmware
changes have not made any noticeable difference in this problem. I do
wonder about the mix of U3 and U320 drives but each disk carrier is
either U3 or U320. Each diskcarrier is set as one ADG array and logical
drive. It is then partitioned and formatted such as /dev/ddiss/c2d0p1
with XFS and mounted.
Software:
I started with Fedora Core2 X86_64 and have worked my way to Fedora Core
5 and samba 3.0.22-1.fc5, acl 2.2.34 and xfsprogs 2.7.3-1.2.1. No
software changes have made any differenc...

[survey] R for Reporting - the R Output MAnager (ROMA) project
Hi R UseRs,
I am interested in providing Reporting abilities to R and have initiated a
project called R Output MAnager (ROMA).
My starting point was my R2HTML package which provides (rough) HTML
exportations. I began with trying to mimic it for LaTeX but fastly did
realize that it was a bad idea.
Thus, I started again from scratch a new package and did spend a lot of
time reading about this

Performance problem with combination Samba / Windows 98 Explorer
Dear reader,
A few days ago I have installed Suse Linux 7.1 with Samba. Soon I was able
to connect from a windows 98 workstation to the linux machine using samba.
After testing I found that the server was functioning great, however when I
copy files to the samba share using the windows explorer the performance is
about 25% of the performance I get when I copy the same files to the same
share
