Memory Usage
just implemented a new samba server and did a mass file copy. when I do a free it says that all 256 is being used. however, right now, there is _zero_ load on the server. Does samba just use this much memory?? are there other test that I can look into? other than that it seems to be working fine

Definitely agree with that. Our project coding standards require _zero_ warnings at commit time (but that only applies to our code, not imported libraries). > I've committed fixes to lots of -Wuninitialized warnings in my tree. > It's all just initializing local variables, which shouldn't result in > extra stores. That's the number that I have been trying to get, and why the limit. Is it X-talk?

encrypted passwords in Icecast 2
hello ! I've just installed the debian package icecast2 (I have the icecast 1.3.12 before) and I have a doubt about the passwords. In the icecast 1.3.* we should use the mkpasswd for our pass and put the crypted output to icecast.conf file. Isn't possible in the icecast.xml file?? (perhaps is not necessaty, I don't know). If this is so, can I change the permissions to this file to

the problem is intractable, and perhaps insoluble
...t address the intractable nature of the problem that underlies all this. let's use #76 to focus our thinking. what we need to do to have any "success" here is to actively discourage users from downloading #76 for _any_ reason... ideally, we would like to drive its download-count to _zero_. (in a perfect world, we would also issue an apology for #76, alongside a promise that we would never fail so badly again; but for the sake of this post, let's just settle for "ideally", ok?) any kind of "note" on the download page will be meaningless, for the most part, b...

Dom0 crashing on x86_64
I am seeing a problem with Dom0 crashing on x86_64 whenever I create a DomU. I''ve done some more testing, and it appears that this problem is somehow related to networking. Dom0 crashes as soon as the networking services are started when DomU is coming up. As an experiment, I brought up DomU without networking, and it stayed up. As soon as I started DomU with networking enabled, however,

Ogg Vorbis and streaming
Hi. I'd like to ask a little about where Ogg stands today when it comes to streaming audio. The VBR has been the main argument in the incompatibility for streaming but has this changed somehow or will it? Is there something else besides quick and large scaled bandwith usage variations and the difficulty of buffering, that could cause problems? CBR could be used but some people say that it

Unicorn future plans
Hi all, Some of you are wondering about the future of the project, especially since we''re nearing a 1.0 release. == 1.x - bugfixes and Rack-compatibility synchronization The 1.x series will focus mainly on bug fixes and compatibility with Rack as it evolves. If Rack drops the rewindability requirement of "rack.input", Unicorn will follow ASAP and allow TeeInput to be
