3ware 9550SXU-4LP performance
Hi, I used xen-3.0.2-2 (2.6.16) before and the performance of my 3ware
9550SXU-4LP wasn''t too bad, but now with 3.0.3.0 (2.6.16.29) throughput
decreased by about 10MB/sec in write performance.
sync; ./bonnie++ -n 0 -r 512 -s 20480 -f -b -d /mnt/blabla -u someuser

7.0-Release and 3ware 9550SXU w/BBU - horrible write performance
Hi,
I've got a new server with a 3ware 9550SXU with the
Battery. I am using FreeBSD 7.0-Release (tried both
4BSD and ULE) using AMD64 and the 3ware performance
for writes is just plain horrible. Something is
obviously wrong but I'm not sure what.
I've got a 4 disk RAID 10 array.
According to 3dm2 the cache is on. I even tried

CentOS 4.3 on Intel Xeon Core 2 Duo
...e considerably faster in some scenarios than Opteron
machines while not beeing more expensive, I would like to hear some
real-world experiences from people who have installed CentOS 4.3 or 4.4
on such a setup.
Specifically:
CPU: 2x Intel Xeon 5100 2GHz
Board: Intel S5000 chipset
RAID5: 3ware 9550SXU-4LP
I have some experience with the 3ware Adapter (new kernel module needed
on install) but now nothing about compatibility, extra drivers or other
problems related to the relatively new Xeon/S5000 platform and CentOS
4.3/RHEL 4.3.
Thanks for any feedback.

ext3 filesystems larger than 8TB
...there is a 16TB limit on ext3.
Has anyone been able to create a ext3 filesystem larger than 8TB?
If ext3 isn't an option, has anyone used the kmod-xfs-smp.i686 module
mentioned on the centos site? Surely it doesn't have an 8TB limit...
specs:
Centos 5.1

Am I just walking into a big nightmare?
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

ZFS on Caviar Blue (Hard Drive Recommendations)
Hi list,
I googled around but couldn''t find anything on whether someone has
good or bad experiences with the Caviar *Blue* drives? I saw in the
archives Caviar Blacks are *not* recommended for ZFS arrays (excluding
apparently RE3 and RE4?). Specifically I''m looking to buy Western
Digital Caviar Blue WD10EALS 1TB drives [1]. Does anyone have any
experience with these drives?

irq issues ("nobody cared")
...ove messages, but they still occur.
Data written on disks seems to be alright, and I think, this doesn''t
concern my controller, but it''s strange anyways.
This doesn''t arise with my distribution''s stock kernel, just with xen.
My setup: Supermicro X6DH8-G2+, 3ware 9550SXU-4LP, 4GB RAM, xen-3.0.2-2
(i.e.linux-2.6.16)
Any ideas?
TIA - Michael

12-15 TB RAID storage recommendations
Hello listmates,
I would like to build a 12-15 TB RAID 5 data server to run under
ContOS. Any recommendations as far as hardware, configuration, etc?
Thanks.

3Ware 9550SX-4LP Performance
I know there are a few 3Ware fans here and I was hoping to find some help. I
just built a new server using a 3Ware 9550SX-4LP with four disks in raid 5.
The array is fully initialized but I'm not getting the write performance I was
hoping for -- only 40 to 45MB/Sec.
3Ware's site advertises 300MB/Sec writes using 8 disks on the PCI Express
version of this card (the 9580 I think.)

Is this with the kernel and xen from -unstabele/3.0.3 ? Have you
changed the config?
What storage device do you have? What NIC?
Are you setting mem=4096M on the Xen command line? If
