A Question of Style
...I understand your question correctly, your name as a wiki *author* is FirstnameLastname. When giving examples of commands, output, etc., you can use whatever you want. Sometimes you have to use the user "root" in an example. Yves -- Yves Bellefeuille <yan at storm.ca> GPG key 837A6134 at http://members.storm.ca/~yan/pgp.asc

On my CentOS 6 system, tuned wasn't installed by default, but when I installed it and followed your instructions, that did seem to improve some programs' performance considerably. -- Yves Bellefeuille <yan at storm.ca> GPG key 837A6134 at http://members.storm.ca/~yan/pgp.asc

cli Checking disk i/o
I just built a CentOS7 system on a Zotac NANO PC. I used a 320GB 2.5" HD I had sitting around and installed with Standard Partitions on XFS. The drive is spinning, nonstop. How can I monitor if there is actually disk i/o to warrant this constant spinning. So noatime for all partitions work with XFS?? I did some browsing and the claim is XFS uses realtime which is better? than noatime?

A Question of Style
Please read this in the spirit of my understanding what the CentOS community norms are. I fault neither of those mentioned for doing what they have done. I just want to understand how we all are documenting the CentOS distribution. In http://wiki.centos.org/Contribute#head-42b3d8e26400a106851a61aebe5c2cca54dd79e5 the standard for the wiki username is established as FirstnameLastname. In

w.r.t. firstname lastname
I try not to post my real name on the internet. I'm basically asking for commit access for user sub page space for formatting, & staging of documents for management review. When I'm actually @ linbit ill probably start the motions to have an official account something like "linbit-usa" to publish the works under. I'm used to mediawiki, moinmoin wiki is new to me.

Last week we noticed that the default scheduler isn't being set properly in CentOS 7. I haven't checked this for CentOS 6, but it might be worth exploring. The TL;DR is unless you're running CentOS 7 on a laptop or as a virtual guest, you should probably run 'tuned-adm profile throughput-performance' I wrote up the full details here ->
