Handling the windows clipboard/32KB limit
...he R(D)COM route). Other advantage: Relatively flexible handling of missing values from Excel which may be "empty", "#N/A", etc. So I thought I would also look at ways of going back via the clipboard. There I'm hitting a funny snag. The documentation explains that there is a 32KB limit on writing to the clipboard. This may make sense as a default, but does it make sense as a hard restriction? Any ideas of getting around this limitation (besides cumbersome R-code buffering/breaking up the frame to send into small pieces to be collected and assembled in Excel? Chris P.S. (s...

AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
OK, I've organized this. It's not possible to average 32kb/s stereo with Vorbis using VBR. Quality -2 stereo proeduces roughly 32 to 38kb/s which is too high for many modems. I would have to use ABR, but last I tried that, it utilized too much CPU for my 950Mhz PC, and oddcast doesn't appear to support that option anymore. I've tried AACPlus...

AACPlus Shoutcast v1.90
I'm am currently using autuvb4 at q-2 mono 44100. This produces roughly 28 to 34kb/s. It's ok but I've heard AACPlus at 32kb/s stereo and it's definately better, unfortunately. Ogg Vorbis v1.1 suggestion
My wish for 1.1 is to stream my station with VBR at bitrates averaging 28-32kb/s with a minimum 32khz sample rate. Hopefully this will be achievable with the new low bitrate tuning that is planned. This could put it on a par with Real Audio at 32kb/s. Currently a quality of -1, 32khz sample rate produces an average around 34-38kb/s which is too high for modems. I could cu...

Icecast2 memory requirements
...00's of streams could likely be processed by IceCast2 on the same PC (2Ghz or more) and the bottleneck would be the Internet bandwidth required for the number of listeners. I would like estimates of the amount of RAM required on the PC per stream and per listener. The streams will all average 32kb/s. Any ideas? If we take an example of 1000 streams with 30 listeners each = 30000 individual streams @ 32kb/s = 960Mb/s. That doesn't sound like too much. One T1 connection will handle that easily. But will IceCast and one CPU handle that? Regards, Ross Levis. --- >8 ---- List archive...
