Weird Samba upload performance on Gigabit network
...e recently upgraded the network infrastructure to support gigabit speeds. - OSX Tiger to OSX Tiger file transfers operate at gigabit speeds. - Samba 3.0.23C (Suse 10) to OSX Tiger file transfers operate at gigabit speeds. - BUT OSX Tiger to Samba 3.0.23C (Suse 10) file transfers operate at 1-2meg/second which is well down from expected performance. The strange thing is if I begin a file transfer from OSX Tiger to Samba and in a terminal window on OSX begin an SCP copy operation to the same Suse server the file transfer speed of Samba jumps up to gigabit level speeds. As soon as the S...

601 Rebooting/Crashing seems to be due to full directory
We were adding contacts to the directory successfully and when we got top approx. contact #45, the phone now reboots when we change a speed dial index or delete a contact from the directory. To gain more memory in sip.cfg, I set: <directory dir.local.volatile.2meg="0" dir.local.nonVolatile.maxSize.2meg="20" dir.local.volatile.4meg="1" dir.local.nonVolatile.maxSize.4meg="42" dir.local.volatile.maxSize="100"/> The phone's rebooting behavior persisits. I know that changes will be wiped out on reboot, ri...

Question about buffering with icecast protocol
Hi, I?ve seen that shoutCAST sends data much faster than real time when you connect (for a while I assume, otherwise you?d be travelling to the future:). That?s useful for fast buffering. With icecast I don?t get that behavior, stream downloads at real time. Is there a way to buffer data faster than real time? Maybe a ?seek? feature? I need that because I need to allocate a special large

one-way audio
...assume the person they have called has hung up. On the side of the person being called there are no audible problems at all (except for the fact that most of the time there is nothing being heard on their side). so the link between the two machines is using a 512k connection at one end, and a 2meg connection at the other. an IAX2 trunk between them. the only thing i can think of as a potential cause of this problem is that one is using a cvs thats more recent than the other. im worried about updating the older machine without being sure that its not going to introduce problems as ther...

Question about buffering with icecast protocol
...large buffer > for an app. Thanks! Look at the burst-size option. The default is 64kbytes which is fine for most audio apps pre-buffering settings but you can alter it to something larger or smaller. To make it similar to shoutcast you'd need to have a burst size of something like 1-2Meg (not sure of the exact figure). karl. No virus found in this incoming message. Checked by AVG Free Edition. HTB Rate and Prio (continued)
Hi again, I keep posting about my problem with HTB -> http://mailman.ds9a.nl/pipermail/lartc/2005q3/016611.html With a bit of search I recently found the exact same problem I have in the 2004 archives with some graphs that explain it far better than I did -> http://mailman.ds9a.nl/pipermail/lartc/2004q4/014519.html and http://mailman.ds9a.nl/pipermail/lartc/2004q4/014568.html

RC1 problem? (Conversation over two IAX2 streams = nasty, gappy audio)
...nufone for about a week now but I think I've nailed it down. Setup: office* - iax2 - colo* - iax2 - nufone office* and colo* are identical physical hardware (Xeon 2.8, dual ethernet, solely used for Asterisk) -- they are joined together through their second ethernet ports over a dedicated 2meg SDSL link. One hop between office* and colo*. No, there is no NAT involved anywhere in this configuration. colo*'s eth0 goes to our switch and out our ADSL connection to Nufone. We're 8 hops from Nufone and up until around the time that they upgraded to Asterisk-1.0RC1 we were having...

Ices re-encodes have died
Hi: I'm running ices on one box with three streams, one streaming as is and two re-encodes, and another box running icecast2. The straight-through stream is going strong, but the two re-encodes have died. Ices is trying to re-establish them, but it keeps saying it gets a broken pipe, as evidenced below: [2004-03-09 10:47:55] INFO encode/encode_initialise Encoder initialising in VBR mode:

Polycom IP600 - Worth the extra $$
Hello, I am looking at the Polycom phones. The ip600 has a very nice screen, is that the only real advantage over the ip500 and ip300.. Is it worth the extra dollars? Help about a QoS configuration
Hi, I would like to make a QoS configuration on a linux based dsl router. It is for a server, so I want to shape outgoing traffic, incoming traffic should not be a problem as long as I have a quite assymetric connection. I would like to achieve the following goals: 1) To have one class (p2p) having all the available bandwith if there is no activity on other classes. 2) If another class (ftp

How Samba let us down
Before you read this, I want to state (for reasons listed below) that I don't expect an answer (advice is welcomed, but please read this email carefully before answering). I'm sharing this with the community with the hope that better software results from our sad experience... BACKGROUND I've been using NT for 4 years, Netware and Linux for 3 years, and Samba for almost 2. I work

...omain and they store there profiles on the server. logon path = \\%L\usersprofiles\%u\%a\profile and when the users logon to the domain they have to copy their profile from the server. Quite a few people have created folders on there desktop with data in them and the profiles range in size from 1-2meg to up to 400meg for one user. How do i force the W2K machines to keep the users profiles just on the server, is there away? anyone else had this problem?
