SunFire X2100 and X4100
Anyone seen either of these "in the wild" yet? RHEL3/RHEL4 are install options so I'm assuming CentOS will just work out of the box, but I thought I'd ask here. The 2100 seems like a viable alternative to whitebox 1RU boxes that we currently use, especially with the new dual core processors. Cheers,

[Bridge] Bridging on broken Broadcom hardware.
Greetings (first post to the list)... The following patch is required to allow bridging to occur on an IBM x305 (1RU server). (It has been posted to the kernel-developers mailing list previously.) Background: - The Dual Broadcom NICs in the IBM x305 have a broken checksum routine which wants to calculate the checksum the ethernet packet where the 'source' IP address is the IP address of t...

Call Quality Issues With 2 Trixbox's - Router Issue?
Hello Everyone, We have recently installed a pair of Trixbox servers in for a client of our. They have two locations, with one server each. The servers terminate 3 standard POTS lines into a Sangoma A200D card. The servers are IBM x3250 1RU servers (1GB Ram, Raid 1 160GB HDD, Dual Core Xenon Processors). We are using Trixbox 2.2, and G729 all around. Each site has two (2) 512k/512k ADSL connections terminating into a Cisco 877W router (using an additional 'dumb' modem in a separate VLAN for the extra dsl connection). Using po...

TDM04B vs Dell revisited
Hi, A week or so ago I wrote about the problems I was having using a Digium TDM04B card in a Dell PowerEdge 750 IU running Fedora Core 1. Digium steadfastly indicates their card won't work in any PowerEdge 650, 700 and 750 series machines "do (sic) to a failure in interrupt handling between the pci bus and the card." My question to the list is: for those of you using a TDM04B

Folding@Home + CentOS 4.3 = success
...to be a wonderful stressor of the CentOS server systems I've been burning in. I've been running two copies of the client on physical dual-core and single die dual-core machines for a few days now. Nary a whimper from the machines and only a slight elevation in temperature (they're 1RU rackmount systems with aggressive/loud fans). In contrast, I loaded the client on a few Win2K (server and workstation) and my WinXP laptop and every single one of them eventually bombed out the client (though without crashing the machines). All were running the 5.04beta client. So I guess it...

install CentOS using an external USB cdrom
Hello, I have an external USB cdrom ; I have a machine which does not have a VGA card and not a standard IDE socket so you cannot connect a CDROM internally to it ; it has USB port; I want to install CentOS using an external USB cdrom on this machine, through the serial port. Is there a way to do it ? I am quite desperate about it. The motherboard DOES enable configuing the BIOS to boot from

X4540 no next-gen product?
While I understand everything at Oracle is "top secret" these days. Does anyone have any insight into a next-gen X4500 / X4540? Does some other Oracle / Sun partner make a comparable system that is fully supported by Oracle / Sun? http://www.oracle.com/us/products/servers-storage/servers/previous-products/index.html What do X4500 / X4540 owners use if they''d like more

zfs list improvements?
To improve the performance of scripts that manipulate zfs snapshots and the zfs snapshot service in perticular there needs to be a way to list all the snapshots for a given object and only the snapshots for that object. There are two RFEs filed that cover this: http://bugs.opensolaris.org/view_bug.do?bug_id=6352014 : ''zfs list'' should have an option to only present direct

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list. I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without modifications. How did I try it? Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock ) Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee prep-out.log The build failed at the end: Processing files: kernel-xenU-devel-2.6.9-67.0.20.EL Checking
