Shaping question - tunnel
...39;s got: 512kbits external bandwidth from ISP1 20Mbits MAN bandwidth not including ISP2 17Mbit tunnel connection which provider : 1 Mbit external bandwidth and 16Mbit MAN bandwidth with ISP2 HTB and IMQ are placed on S1. 2) I want to be able to guarantee a piece of bandwith for each user (like 128kbits MAN without ISP2 + 128kbits external bandwidth from tunnel + 1 Mbit MAN bandwidth with ISP2 from tunnel) and for other users (128kbits MAN without ISP2 + 1 Mbit MAN with ISP2 from tunnel + 128 kbits from ISP1) As far as I see the setup I was thinking of using two IMQ''s for download. One...

wondershaper htb P2P downloads
Sir, Thanks for the wondershaper utility! It has improved the response time for my ssh connections to my home server whenever i need to access it from the Internet. However, is there a way to setup a bandwidth, say 10kbits/sec (i only have 128kbits/sec DSL), and assign it to a particular traffic type like kazaa and other P2P file-sharing? This way it will guarantee that my home users of kazaa will only eat up and share that total small amount amongst my family and nothing more. I don''t want to restrict P2P usage in my home netw...

icecast and smp
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi, ~ I have just installed Ice cast and I really like it. I want to stream a radio station which expects 6000 concurrent listener. I was thinking of using an SMP machine with Linux running. Does Ice cast make use of SMP, does anyone have sizing references . - -- Taymour A El Erian System Division Manager CNA, MCSE, CCNA, LPIC T.E. Data E-mail:

ISDN and DVO
I'm looking at setting up an ISDN internet service for someone, and she'd like to be able to do VoIP. The modem (230kbps serial and 2 POTS ports) you get from the ISP can do DVO (Dynamic Voice Override) where you can be online at 128kbits/sec (2 channels), but if a voice call is detected (call waiting signalled via the D channel I guess) or if you want to make a call out, one of the channels drops to be used for voice, leaving the data at 64kbps. When the voice call finishes, the modem goes back up to 128k. Has anyone configured a...

"Quality" vs. "bitrate"
...en he's most likely going to get 80kbs anyway. They'll have to think laterally to get winamp to say "128". Even if he/she figures it out they'll have selected "archive quality" from the menu so they'll be thinking "hey, this can do *archive quality* at only 128kbits!!!" <p>So, no "target bitrate" setting anywhere in the program, just "quality" and "maximum bitrate" settings. I can't see any real use for a "minumum bitrate" setting. Can anybody think of a reason this wouldn't work out for everybody i...

limiting bandwidth on iface
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi there! Well, as an exercise, I try ''simulating'' an adsl link (just the speed ;o)) with a GRE tunnel and HTB for bandwidth limiting. Typically in germany adsl has about 1024kbit downstream and 128kbits upstream (yes, there are others ;) but these are what I have) - which are the values i try to simulate. Here is the snipped that does the real thing on the client-side: - -----snip----- ~ 23 # now setup shaping to dsl-like-speed (up:128, down:1024 - this \ ~ is the dsl-client) ~ 24...

1.3.11 instability on MIPS?
Hey there. I have setup an icecast server on a Cobalt RAQ2 (may be a raq1, not entirely sure) with a MIPS processor. The icecast server compiles, and runs fine, atleast for a while. But on 2 occasions over the last 10 hours I have had to manually restart the server. Is there any known bug on the MIPS architechture, or should I investigate the problem more? Thanks Mike --

OT: Perfect Pitch
I won't bother quoting all of Moz's statements of how sound is interpreted by those blessed/cursed with tape recorders in their heads :) I will add that his whole explanation of perfect pitch perception easily offers an explanation as to why some individuals will only archive flac/pac/ape (Moz - do you?) and those of us that do not perceive that level of detail and are fine using ogg

Patch accurate packet scheduling for ATM/ADSL
Hi, I use the patch (http://ace-host.stuart.id.au/russell/files/tc/tc-atm/) for accurate the packet scheduling on ATM/ADSL link and i think I''ve found a bug. I tried to write to the author but he didn''t answer me. I work on a Linux 2.6.17 with the iproute2-2.6.18-061002 package. I change the type of the cell_align char to short of the struct tc_ratespec in the file pkt_sched.h
