Optimized VSEncoding
Hi,
The size of the string generated by VSEncoder is 12592387,
while that by InterpolativeEncoder is 8554817.
When only encoding the first 1000lines,
both cost 0ms to decode and VS cost 1ms to encode while Interpolative cost 0ms,
1000lines is just too little to catch the difference in my test.
I upload the source code to https://github.com/HurricaneTong/Xapian/tree/master/VSEncoder
The bitstream.cpp and bitstream.h is about VSEncoder.
The Interpolative.cpp...

echo with spa-3000
...on the PAP2 due to
the increased latency.
The echo occurs even when I call an automated voice service or
something, so I'm thinking that possibly there is a gross impedance
mismatch on my side of the telco switch. I believe the following is
happening (latency measures are guesses):
Handset -(0ms)- PAP2 -(40ms)- Asterisk -(40ms)- SPA3000 -(0ms)- Telco
Does an EC algorithm need a measurable delay to work? The EC would have
to cope with an almost unmeasurably small echo delay (the delay only
creeps in on the other side of the IP link. Is there another way I
should be solving this problem, es...

[PATCH] Notify caching_thread()s to give up on extent_commit_sem when needed.
caching_thread()s do all their work under read access to extent_commit_sem.
They give up on this read access only when need_resched() tells them, or
when they exit. As a result, somebody that wants a WRITE access to this sem,
might wait for a long time. Especially this is problematic in
cache_block_group(),
which can be called on critical paths like find_free_extent() and in commit

Environment:
rvm
ruby 1.9.2-p180
rails 3.1.rc1
Conditions:
gem "coffee-script" # in Gemfile
at least one file with .js.coffee (even empty inside) in app/assets
Result:
WEBrick or Unicorn hangs. Only kill -9 <pid> helps.
P.S. What additional info should I provide?
